Privacy

OddYak exists so that your work stays on your computer. This page covers the website and the app, in that order, and it is short because there is little to say.

This website

oddyak.ai sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no sign-up form. Every font, image and stylesheet is served from this domain, so loading the page contacts nobody else.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes the technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser version, in order to deliver the page and keep the service secure. We do not use those logs to identify or track visitors.

Links to GitHub, Hugging Face or Snap2Deploy take you to sites with their own policies.

The OddYak app

The model, your chats, your files and everything the app remembers about you stay on your computer. There is no account and no telemetry, and the app keeps working with the network off.

Something leaves your computer only when you turn it on. Web search, while it is on, sends your search to the search provider and fetches the result pages from their own sites; it starts off in Chat and on in Work. A model you add from a service receives the chats you send it. A service you connect, such as your mail or calendar, is reached through its own sign-in and API. What you send to any of these is governed by that service's terms.

Beyond those, the app makes three small connections of its own: a release check on GitHub at most once a day, which sends nothing and downloads nothing; Hugging Face, when you browse or download a model; and, the first time an emoji appears in a chat, a public emoji library for its picture, which is then kept on your computer. No message text is sent.
